Privacy notice — Trimm local trades directory

Last updated: 8 September 2026

Who we are

Controller: Peter Farrell t/a Trimm (update to company name + CRO if incorporated).

Contact: hello@trimm.ie

Lawful basis (directory listings): GDPR Art 6(1)(f) legitimate interests.

Trimm operates https://trimm.ie/, including a public directory of local tradespeople at https://trimm.ie/directory.

What this notice covers

How we handle personal data in connection with the public trades directory (and related claim / remove requests). Separate notices may apply to job quotes, provider accounts, and marketing.

What data we may list

For a directory listing we may process and, where appropriate, show:

  • Name and/or business name
  • Trade(s) and area served (town / coverage)
  • Business phone, business email, website
  • Hours and a short services description

We aim not to show personal mobile numbers or personal webmail addresses (e.g. Gmail, Hotmail, iCloud, Yahoo) on public cards unless they are clearly the published business contact. Internal records may still hold source details for compliance.

Sources

Listings may come from:

  • Information already published as a business (e.g. business website or public business directories)
  • People known to Trimm
  • Self-submitted profiles (claim / join)

Why we process (lawful basis)

We process this data for our legitimate interests in running a local directory that helps homeowners find and contact trades, balanced against your rights and expectations. Where you submit or claim a listing, we also rely on steps needed to provide that service.

This directory is not an official regulator list and may be incomplete or out of date.

Retention

We keep listings while they remain useful for the directory and review each public listing at least annually. When we uphold a Remove / opt-out request, we unpublish within 5 business days (sooner where we can match automatically). We also remove or update listings when you successfully claim them, or when contact details are dead or no longer appropriate.

Your rights

Under GDPR you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and data portability, and to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Remove or correct a listing: use Remove my listing on https://trimm.ie/directory (or email hello@trimm.ie).

Want to appear or update: join via https://trimm.ie/join (claim, when available, is optional). Scraped listings can be removed via Remove my listing without claiming.

Sharing

We do not sell listing contact data. Public pages are visible to anyone who visits the site. Processors (e.g. hosting) act on our instructions.

Marketing

We do not use scraped directory contacts for marketing emails, SMS, or calls. Separate rules apply if you later opt in to Trimm communications.

If we did not collect your details from you directly

We may have taken business contact details from information already published as a business. We provide information about that processing through this notice and the directory page, rather than emailing every listed trade individually at seed scale. You can object or request removal at any time via Remove my listing or hello@trimm.ie.

Changes

We may update this notice; the date above will change when we do.
